The government will hold a meeting of all parties on the current Sri Lanka economic crisis on Tuesday. The meeting will be chaired by the Minister of Union Nirmala Sitharaman and S Jaishankar, said the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Pralhad Joshi.
During the meeting of all parties held on Sunday before the Parliamentary Monsoon session, DMK and Aiadmk based in Tamil Nadu demanded India intervening in neighboring countries facing the weakening economic crisis, reporting the PTI News Agency.During the Sunday meeting, both DMK and AiadMK raised the problem of Sri Lanka, especially the condition of the country’s Tamil population.
Speaking with reporters after the meeting, the leader of the DMK Constituent Nda M Thambideurai said India had to intervene to complete the crisis in Sri Lanka.The leader of the TR Baalu Party also demands Indian intervention in overcoming the situation faced by the island state.
Sri Lanka faced the worst economic crisis in seven decades, with severe lack of foreign exchange inhibiting important imports including food, fuel and medicines. The economic crisis also triggered a political crisis in the country after a popular rebellion against the government.Speaking to reporters after the meeting of all parties ahead of the Monsun Parliament session attended by leaders of various parties, Joshi also said that the government was open to discussions about all problems based on parliamentary rules and procedures.
