Sri Lanka court bans former PM Mahinda Rajapaksa, allies from leaving country

The judge in Capital Colombo ordered the police to investigate the mass attack on May 9 regarding a peaceful protesters, which caused violence to retaliate nine livesThe Sri Lanka court on May 12 banned former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, the son of a politician namal and 15 allies left the country due to violence against anti-government demonstrators.

The judge in Capital Colombo ordered the police to investigate the mass attack on May 9 on a peaceful protesters, which caused violence to claim nine lives and cause widespread destruction.A petition to the court has also requested an arrest warrant against Rajapaksa and his colleagues, a court official told AFP.

“But the judge refused because the police still had the power to hold the suspect,” added the official.Victims of violence on Monday said that Mr. Rajapaksa and Key’s maid made around 3,000 supporters of their capital and incite them to attack a peaceful protesters.The loyalist mass came out of his residence and attacked anti-government demonstrators with sticks and clubs.

Buddhist monks and Catholic priests are among at least 225 people who were hospitalized after the attack. Reprisal immediately spread throughout the country, with dozens of Loyalist Rajapaksa houses on fire.The Prime Minister resigned and must be evacuated from his home by heavy armed forces.The former 76 -year -old leader is currently hiding in Navy facilities in the eastern island country. His former son, Namal, told AFP on May 10 that the family did not intend to leave the country.
