As per reports, India has surfaced as the largest exporter of gherkins and cucumbers in the world. The country has exported cucumber and gherkins to the tune of Metric Tonnes with a value of USD 114 million during April to October (2020-21) In addition, it has crossed the USD 200 million mark of import of agrarian reused product,-pickling cucumber that’s encyclopedically appertained as gherkins or cornichons, in the last fiscal time. In 2020-21, India had exported Metric Tonnes of cucumber & gherkins worth USD 223 million.
Following the orders of the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, the Agricultural & Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) started a series of enterprise in structure development, product creation in the transnational request and adherence to food safety operation system in processing units Gherkins are exported under 2 orders i.e. cucumbers and gherkins that are set and saved by ginger or acetic acid & cucumbers and gherkins, which are provisionally saved Let me tell you that through organic in- house civilization of cucumbers, growers in the country are earning huge profit.
About Gherkin and its cultivation
