Imran Khan took away PKR 150 million official vehicle after being ousted from power: Information Minister

Information Minister Pakistan Marriyum Aurangzeb has claimed that the Prime Minister who was overthrown by Imran Khan took 150 million official PKR luxury vehicles after being issued from power through voting without trust last month.”Mr Khan took the BMW X5 on the way out, which is basically a car from a collection of prime minister’s offices for foreign delegations,” Marriyum told reporters on Sunday.

He insisted that the car value was around PKR 150 million, taking into account bomb evidence and bullet evidence, which was bought around PKR 30 million six years ago.Khan insisted that he wanted to guard the car, even though he previously criticized the government previously for keeping an expensive car in the prime minister’s house, the Dawn newspaper quoted the Minister said.

The Minister also stated that Khan kept the gun given to him from the diplomat of other countries, instead of handing it over to Toshakhana or State Storage, the report said.According to Pakistani law, any prizes received from high -ranking foreign officials must be included in the storage of state or toshakhana. Since Khan, 69, losing votes without trust in the parliament last month, his party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has been at odds with the current political establishment led by Shehbaz Sharif on the problem of foreign gifts.

Two weeks ago, the Islamic High Court of Islamabad directed the newly appointed government to make public details about prizes received by Khan during its official visit, by saying the prizes given to government officials by foreign governments owned by Pakistani state and not some people. In response, Khan said it was the gift, so it was the choice whether to save it or not.

“Mera Tohfa, Meri Marzi [my gift, my choice],” said Khan.Marriyum also claimed that Khan had reduced the percentage of prize retention from Toshakhana to 20 percent to get the prizes and then raised it to 50 percent, Dawn’s report added.
